SUGAR LAND, TX. – Feb. 26, 2007 – NEON Enterprise Software, the technology leader in enterprise data availability software and services announced today the release of HALO, which prevents lengthy online outages and keeps IMS applications available during database conversions and restructuring changes.

HALO eliminates the need to take databases offline, allowing critical business applications to remain available during a conversion process—such as a conversion to a partitioned database like HALDB. Using an online data collection facility, HALO creates shadow copies for use by the conversion process while accumulating updates to the database. It then applies all the updates to restructured databases after the conversion is complete. The updated databases are restored with minimal downtime, just long enough to rename data sets and put them back into service – a process that typically only takes seconds.

HALO allows database conversions and structural changes to be implemented while IMS applications remain available. HALO offers increased flexibility and supports most full-function database conversions and restructuring changes. The easy-to-use ISPF interface simplifies HALO JCL generation and job management. HALO also allows testing of database and DBRC changes without moving them into production.
