Industry Leaders Join NEON Enterprise Software to Accelerate Growth
SUGAR LAND, TX. – January 18, 2005 – NEON Enterprise Software, a leading provider of mainframe database management software, today announced the appointments of Don Pate as chief executive officer, and Donald Townsend as chief financial officer.
Pate and Townsend bring significant leadership experience working with successful software, hardware, manufacturing and financial institutions. In their new roles, Pate and Townsend will focus on accelerating the company's growth in the mainframe software market, as well as expanding into new markets.

Pate brings nearly 20 years of management and sales experience working with technology companies to his role as CEO of NEON Enterprise Software. Prior to joining NEON Enterprise Software, Pate served as president and CEO of Tonic Software, provider of Web application management software. Before joining Tonic Software, Pate served in various management and sales positions with some of the world's leading technology companies, including NEON Systems, Inc., BMC Software, Inc. and IBM Corporation.

Townsend brings extensive international corporate and public accounting experience to his role as CFO of NEON Enterprise Software. During his career he has managed a variety of financial and compliance activities including mergers and acquisitions, Sarbanes-Oxley assessments, SEC reporting and international trade transactions.
Townsend is a certified public accountant with an MBA from Rutgers University. Prior to joining NEON Enterprise Software, Townsend served as vice president and CFO of Evoke Software Corporation, where he was responsible for accounting, finance and risk management. Before joining Evoke Software, he was a financial and investment consultant. He has also held various leadership and accounting positions with international companies in the manufacturing, mining and energy industries.
