About Craig S. Mullins
Craig S. Mullins is Vice President of Data Strategy for NEON Enterprise Software. He is a data management
strategist,
researcher, and consultant with over two decades of experience in all facets of database
systems development including developing and teaching classes on
DB2
and other DBMSs, systems analysis and design, database
administration and system
administrator, and data analysis and modeling.
He has worked with mainframe DB2
since Version 1 and has experience working
with Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and IMS. Craig has
worked in multiple industries including manufacturing, banking,
commercial software development, education, research,
utilities, and consulting.
Craig is the author of the book DB2 Developer's Guide
published by SAMS Publishing. The book contains
more than 1500 pages of in-depth technical information on DB2 for z/OS
updated through DB2 Version 8.
Craig is also the author of
Database Administration: The Complete Guide to Practices and Procedures, published
by Addison Wesley. This
book offers the industry's only comprehensive guide to heterogeneous

is also a frequent contributor to computer industry
publications, having authored hundreds of
articles over the years. His articles have appeared in popular
industry magazines including DM Review, DBMS, DB2 Update, DB2 Magazine, Oracle
Update, SQL Server Update, and many others. Craig writes several
regular industry columns.
Craig is a frequent speaker at
industry conferences and user groups. He has spoken to thousands
of technicians about
database management and administration issues at such conferences as
SHARE, DAMA
Symposium and Metadata Conference,
Enterprise Data World, the
IBM Information on Demand conference, the International DB2 Users Group (IDUG),
and Oracle World.
He has also spoken at regional DAMA and CMG meetings, and at database user groups across North
America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Craig is also an IBM Data Champion and a member of the
IDUG volunteers hall of fame.
