Eclipse iExtract™
Eclipse iExtract is a powerful utility that quickly and efficiently extracts data from both Full-Function and Fast Path databases. Because Eclipse iExtract directly accesses the database, its performance is unmatched. While other data extraction utilities work through DL/1 or by using user exits or APIs to access data, Eclipse iExtract can access a database directly to extract data, making it as much as 100 times faster than other methods. This speed makes it possible to access needed data quickly while reducing CPU usage. Eclipse iExtract also utilizes IBM System z9 Integrated Information Processors (zIIPs). By moving eligible work to zIIPs, Eclipse iExtract frees up central processors and reduces the overall cost of computing.
The business requirements for data extraction vary from creating custom reports, migration from hierarchical to relational databases, or replicating data for use in a data warehouse. By using the extensive set of commands and expressions in Eclipse iExtract, you can create custom output files for a variety of purposes.
Key Features
 |
|
| • |
Supports online Fast Path
databases, including XDR1 and XDR2 formats |
 |
|
| • |
Samples a database using a
frequency that fits your needs and at a limit appropriate for
your task |
 |
|
| • |
Provides extensive flexibility in
the handling of segments, allowing you to: –Create output
files with a predefined or custom format that contain only the
records and segments you specify –Include segments and
their parents as well as segments and their dependents during
database sampling –Delete, replace, and select specific
segments using a flexible expression processor –Change the
format of the data in the fields for selected and replaced
segments |
| • |
Provides numerous options related
to output file formatting, allowing you to: –Select a
predefined format to create a file –Define a file format
using the header, trailer, and prefix appropriate for your
task –Change the format of the data in the header,
trailer, and prefix –Create unformatted files with no
header, trailer, or prefix |
| • |
Uses the FABGXDR I/O module to:
–Extract data from a sequential data set and make the
data usable by other programs such as COBOL
–Read a maximum of 9 input files simultaneously using
a multi-file processing method |
