NEON Enterprise Software Solves the Corporate Data Retention Challenge With the Release of TITAN Archive

Solution Addresses Compliance Requirements and Reduces Electronic Discovery and Operational Costs

SUGAR LAND, TX. – September 18, 2007 – NEON Enterprise Software, Inc., the technology leader in enterprise data management software and services, today announced the release of TITAN Archive, a database archiving solution that supports companies data retention policies and enables the long-term retention of structured data such as business transactions.

TITAN Archive ensures that structured data can be easily stored for its business or legal life through a secure, sustainable architecture that reduces costs and meets the compliance and legal requirements for retaining data. With this solution in place, archived data is protected for the life of its retention period, no matter how long, in its authentic format. TITAN Archive also reduces risk by ensuring archived data, which is tagged and stored with metadata, can be easily retrieved in a meaningful context, through standard queries.

“As stricter regulations are passed and businesses continue to store more of their data electronically, the focus on meeting legal retention requirements, managing operational costs, and supporting e-discovery needs grows,” said Don Pate, CEO of NEON Enterprise Software. “The growing volume of data, coupled with lengthy retention requirements, is driving companies to seek new solutions that allow them to meet new compliance and legal requirements as well as protect their businesses in litigation.”

“Our research indicates that database information retention periods, due to the regulatory and legal environments, are extending beyond five years with a majority of customers archiving data between six and 25 years.  Complicating the extended retention periods is the need to access this data in response to a legal or regulatory inquiry. Approximately, half of the organizations that have been involved in an electronic discovery event have had to produce database records,” said Brian Babineau, senior analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group.  “This poses new challenges to IT departments that must find ways to cost-effectively retain and track corporate data.  To retain database information efficiently while maintaining accessibility, customers should evaluate database archiving solutions as they allow subsets of database records to be carved out from primary storage devices and moved to tertiary devices for record retention, compliance and electronic discovery purposes.”

TITAN Archive reduces IT costs by providing a policy-driven solution for archiving critical structured data such as financial data, invoices, and other business transactions and reducing the volume of data that must be maintained in expensive operational databases.  Because of the data security and protection TITAN Archive provides, it helps companies remain compliant with industry and government regulations.

“Businesses are now faced with a series of challenges regarding how and where to effectively store their structured corporate data, data that must remain in its authentic form and can be easily found if needed for business and legal purposes,” continued Pate. “TITAN Archive provides a cost effective solution to the challenges companies are facing today.”

Additional benefits from TITAN Archive include reduced electronic discovery costs. TITAN Archive indexes all archived database records, making them easy to search and retrieve specific records when they are needed for litigation.  And TITAN Archive’s discard policy ensures that data is deleted at the end of its legal life.

This version of TITAN Archive is for DB2 on z/OS. NEON Enterprise Software plans to release versions of TITAN Archive for Oracle and IMS by end of year 2007.
