Oracle Ace Dave Moore Selected to Speak at Collaboration 08
Moore to discuss challenges and solutions available for Oracle data archiving
SUGAR LAND, TX. – March 31, 2008 – NEON Enterprise Software, Inc., the technology leader in enterprise
data management software and services, today announced that Dave Moore, Oracle Ace and NEON
product author has been selected to deliver a technical session at Collaborate 08, hosted by The
Independent Oracle Users Group, The Oracle Applications Users Group, and Quest International Users
Group (Quest).
“I have been a speaker at several Collaborate conferences in recent years and am honored to have been
selected as one of the presenters at this year’s event,” said Dave Moore, product author, NEON
Enterprise Software. “The Collaborate event offers a venue for the Oracle community to learn about best
practices from Oracle practitioners and experts. As an Oracle performance expert, I am excited to share
my knowledge about the benefits and best practices of database archiving—one of the practices related
to performance.”
Even as the volume of data continues to increase significantly each year, companies are keeping large
amounts of data readily accessible in Oracle databases. According to industry analysts, about 80% of the
data maintained in databases is no longer needed for daily business and does not need to be maintained
in operational databases that reside on fast-spinning storage devices. As a result, application and
database performance is degraded, more expensive storage space is needed and database
administration tasks, including backup, recovery, reorganizations and disaster recovery take longer and
cost more. This, coupled with the new legal requirements for data retention and e-discovery are creating
new challenges for retaining data, requiring the need to archive data.
”I look forward to educating attendees about the challenges and solutions associated with data retention
and database archiving on Oracle,” Moore continued. I am always looking at ways to maintain maximum
performance of Oracle databases – and data retention has become a performance issue.
Moore’s presentation will delve into the best ways to archive Oracle data and what is required after the
archive is complete in order to get the database performing at optimal levels again. His presentation, titled
“Oracle Data Archiving—Taming the Beast,” will take place on April 16, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
